SE Self-Hosted 4.2.7 – Improved Content and Community Creation

SocialEngine - Community Software

Thanks everyone for the substantial feedback we received from our last SocialEngine self-hosted Roadmap post, our survey and via email. Expect an announcement post from us next week that will outline our 4.2.8 release goals featuring items we’ve gathered thanks to your feedback. This, 4.2.7, is a minor release focused on a few fixes and features as we ramp up development in prepation for our major 4.2.8 update that we’re excited to get into your hands. As always, please remember to backup your installations before downloading 4.2.7 and upgrading, and please contact us for any questions. Here’s the full changelog, and our highlights are listed below.

Highlights:

  • Resolved XSS security vulnerabilities found in video tags and profile name fields.
  • Private items are now hidden on plugin browse pages. Previously, items such as photos were visible on these pages even when marked as private.
  • It’s now possible to duplicate pages when creating a new page. We’ve also done the same for member types if you’d like to duplicate those when building your community. Please note: Primary Content widgets will not render on duplicated pages.
  • Bug fixes include – updated available phrases for translation, improved RSS feed widget, and alphabetized categories in search.
