SocialEngine PHP Self-Hosted
- The purchase of Software entitles the Licensee to 30 days of technical support from SocialEngine starting at the time of purchase on the initial license purchase. Licensee agrees to the support terms stated below.
- The support shall be provided mainly by means of an electronic ticketing system. SE PHP support will only be provided for SocialEngine PHP sites running the most recent major version of our software or the version one release prior within the same major release (4.x, 5.x, etc). For example if version 5 is the current major release, then we would support version 5.0 but not version 4.x as that is a previous major version. We would, however, support version 5.0.x if the current release is 5.1.0 as that is within the same major release.
- Support shall ONLY be provided for the following issues:
- Initial Software installation. ( Must meet our Installation requirements below )
- Initial plugin installation, provided plugins are not third-party.
- Errors encountered during the normal use of unmodified Software.
- Requests for professional installation, provided a pre-specified fee has been transferred by Licensee and received by Licensor. Installations will be made on a best-effort basis and performed as quickly as feasibly possible, however no guarantee of timeliness is made.
- General questions involving how to set Software settings, Software usage and Software operation.
- Tickets sent in English.
- Support, at its sole discretion, may provide assistance with other issues on a case-by-case basis.
- Support will NOT be liable for:
- Requests involving the customization of our software.
- Requests involving sites on servers that do not conform to our requirements.
- The integration or troubleshooting of third-party modules.
- The addition of functionality to the Software package
- The customization of the graphical interface
- Assistance in locating resources out of Support’s realm of expertise
- Assistance with server related issues, improvements or server updates.
- Assistance with modified sites. Modified sites are those in which the SocialEngine official software code or database is modified in any way. SocialEngine official software is the SocialEngine software package and plugins that you download from your client dashboard (with the exception of mobile apps which are supported by SocialNetworking.Solutions). Support for modified Software will be provided at Support’s sole discretion.

- FTP or SFTP details.
- Database access through phpMyAdmin or other database manager. Must be accessible in English.

Support Hours
Support is provided from Monday through Friday during normal US business hours. Support is closed for major US holidays.
Installation Service
In order to ensure a stable install, we will only install if the following requirements are met in addition to the SE PHP requirements:
- A file manager panel (EX: cPanel, Plesk, etc) with zip and unzip. Must be in English.
- phpMyAdmin details or login details for a database you create. Must be in English.
- If FTP is the only option, we require the host to unzip the uploaded files. This ensures that files do not become corrupted during an upload.
- Standard Apache hosting environment. We do not install on local installs or intranets.
- As Windows environments take extra setup, we do not install on Windows servers.
Upgrade Service
In an effort to ensure the stability of all websites undergoing the upgrade process, we will only perform upgrades Monday through Thursday. This will allow our technicians to address any issues before the weekend.
- Standard upgrade service is valid for versions 4.9.X to 6.X.X.
- Legacy upgrade service is valid for versions 4.0.X to 4.8.X.
- Upgrade services can be impaired by modifications to the SocialEngine default code or database. As such, SocialEngine does not perform upgrades on modified sites. Should modifications be discovered, the Licensee will need to resolve these issues in order to proceed with the upgrade.
- Licensee is responsible to backup their website and database.
- Licensee is responsible to check with third party vendors to ensure plugins are compatible and prepare the site for upgrade in the event such plugins are not compatible or could interfere with the upgrade procedure. We recommend that sites with plugins be upgraded by the developers of those plugins. However, if you choose to upgrade via SocialEngine, you assume all liability for any issues caused by the plugins.
- Licensee is responsible to ensure the server meets requirements.
- Licensee is encouraged to have all permissions set properly before upgrading as this can impact the upgrade process.

Upgrade Process:
- Our team will email prior to upgrading your site to a major version. Please respond to these tickets to confirm as themes can change with upgrades when new default themes are introduced. You can also send a ticket to request an upgrade.
- Minor upgrades will be done without prior emails, on a queue basis. You can send a ticket to have your site moved up the queue and we will do our best to do so.
- We encourage all cloud clients to use clone themes to make theme changes. Not doing so can interfere with upgrades and will cause your changes to be deleted during the upgrade process.
- If a client does not want to upgrade to a major release, due to theme changes, they can contact us to let us know that they want to wait for theme compatibility. We will then put the upgrade on a hold status until we get the former default theme compatible with the new release. This can take time to accomplish.
- Clients on the enterprise plans that allow plugins and/or customizations would require special upgrades. Those just with third party plugins, per our terms, would be upgraded by SocialNetworking.Solutions for free. Those with customizations would require an upgrade quote from SocialNetworking.Solutions as the customizations would also require updates. These special upgrades can be scheduled with SocialNetworking.Solutions any time after a release.
- Clients with paid themes from SocialEngine will be upgraded once those themes are compatible with the new release. Noting that you need to work on a clone of the theme and style in order to avoid upgrade issues or deletion of your changes.
In order to use Support or services, Licensee is required to provide the following details for Support staff access:
- Maintenance code if activated.
Failure to provide the above details will restrict technical assistance and can entirely hamper our ability to resolve issues. Subscriber agrees to provide the above information and acknowledges that failure to do so can forfeit Support assistance.
SocialEngine reserves the right to cancel support and support access in the case of abuse by the Subscriber.
